Second Shooter and Assistant
I'm Maxx Segrue, a Ridgecrest-based photographer with a cinematic, moody, lifestyle-driven style, and right now I'm looking to bring that eye to event coverage as a second shooter or assistant. I'm open to wedding opportunities, and I have a gallery from a previous wedding available upon request. That said, I'm currently working with a limited gear setup that doesn't yet include the redundancy (matching bodies, dual flashes, dual card slots) that wedding work typically calls for. What I do have is experience working as part of a crew, having assisted on a couple of music video productions and served as an additional shooter on a headshot session, along with a full kit that's ready for portraits, corporate events, and similar coverage. I'm easy to work alongside, comfortable following direction, and genuinely excited to build experience in event work while bringing a consistent, cinematic look to whatever I'm shooting.

Experience
I haven't second shot a wedding yet, but I have solo photographed a small wedding, and a gallery is available upon request. I've also worked as a third shooter/assistant on a couple of music video productions, capturing extra angles and portraits alongside the lead photographer. Right now I'm building toward event coverage as a second shooter or photography assistant, including portraits, corporate events, and headshot sessions.
Working Style
As a second shooter and photography assistant, my priority is making sure I’m genuinely useful to the lead photographer, not just another camera in the room. That means staying alert to what needs handling in the moment, whether thats clearing clutter or people out of a shot, grabbing gear or fixing something on the fly, or anticipating what’s needed before I’m asked. When I am shooting, I focus on covering different angles and focal lengths than the lead photographer, so we’re not duplicating the same frame twice and clients end up with fuller event coverage. I follow direction easily and I’m comfortable adjusting on the spot to whatever the lead photographer needs from me during the wedding, event, or photo session.
Turnaround & Delivery
Turnaround and delivery for second shooter work is worked out directly with the lead photographer as part of our agreement, since every photographer has their own workflow and preferences for how images are handed off. I’m flexible and happy to fit into whatever process works best for you.
Availability
I’m generally available Sunday through Tuesday, with some abailability Wednesday and Thursday. Friday and Saturday I’m available in the afternoons, and I’m free evenings every day of the week. I’m comfortable traveling within about 70 miles of Ridgecrest, CA for second shooter and assistant work, covering most of East Kern County, though I am willing to travel beyond that radius for the right opportunity.
